The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan grassroots organization encouraging the informed and active participation of citizens in government. It influences public policy through education and advocacy. We never support or oppose any political party or candidate.

The League of Women Voters of Loudoun County (LWV-LC) is one of 14 local leagues in the state of Virginia and the first rural league in the state. Read more about the history of our League here.

The League of Women Voters, at the National, State, and Local levels, has two separate and distinct roles:

Voter Services/Citizen Education

We present unbiased nonpartisan information about elections, the voting process, and issues.

Action/Advocacy

We employ a rigorous study process to identify nonpartisan consensus positions on particular policies in the public interest, in order to advocate for or against those policies.

LWV-LC carries out its activities through committees, which are open to all registered members:

Education (Chair: Linda Majeroni) Plans and supports educational events for the community, including lectures and historical presentations.

Voter Services (Chair: Gayle Lovato) Coordinates candidate forums, voter outreach and voter registration efforts in Loudoun County.

Membership (Chair: Carol Esteki) Manages local league membership and information sharing with state and national leagues.

Member Engagement (Chair: Truphelia Parker) Coordinates efforts within the league for meetings, events, and initiatives.

Fundraising (Chair: Anna Kinney) Identifies opportunities for funding, including grant applications, merchandise and event sales, and donation campaigns.

Communications (Chair: Courtney Silverthorn) Coordinates league website, social media content, and member newsletters.

To conduct our voter services and citizen education activities, we use funds from the League of Women Voters Education Fund, which is a 501(c)(3) corporation, a nonprofit educational organization. The League of Women Voters, a membership organization, conducts action and advocacy and is a nonprofit 501(c)(4) corporation. Donations to the Education Fund are tax deductible.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Policy: The LWV-LC is fully committed to ensure compliance - in principle and in practice - with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Policy of the LWV-US.
